myDGB.net have caused the first upset of the AMD Sapphire CS:GO Invitational by defeating VeryGames 16-12 on de_nuke_ve. The Slovakia-based team had been given only the eighth seed in the tournament, but with two Czech players in their ranks, they took full advantage of what could be considered the home factor to defeat second-seeded side VeryGames. myDGB.net started out on the CT side of the map and got off to a flying start, strolling to an early 7-2 lead. VeryGames then responded and amassed several rounds in a row, going into half-time down by just one round as the scoreline was 8-7 in favour of their opponents.
With VG now playing as Counter-Terrorists, many expected them to easily turn the score around after the break, and it certainly seemed that way when they won the pistol round and eventually took the scoreline to 12-10 in their favour. However, myDGB.net embarked on an impressive recovery and took six rounds in a row, with Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács' and Tomáš "oskar" Štastný's 4-on-2 at 13-12 a key moment for them. AMD Sapphire CS:GO InvitationalBest of 1 myDGB.net are now sharing the top of Group B with k1ck, who defeated eXtensive! 16-14, while VeryGames sit fifth, with a -4 round record. |
